LOWDOWN
In its Hispanic translation, Zocalo means public forum, but Zocalo L.A. has come to define a highly connected mediator between cultural institutions in Los Angeles. Think of Zocalo as that a great dinner host, who lures all the best guests with a feast of conversation starters. With that metaphor in mind, its no wonder that Zocalo wants to bring the following topic to the table: the new anti-taco truck regulations. That's right, you're beloved late-night mobile source of greasy mexi fare is in danger of extinction! The French may have their boulangeries and baguettes but Downtown Los Angelenos have their taco trucks and greasy Mexican food. What better way to epitomize downtown Los Angeles, not only in terms of food culture, but car culture. In this auto-topia of car culture and pollution, why is the L.A. County Board of Supervisors shooing this mobile source of nourishment and refreshment away? It's got to do with more than just one extra parking spot, or with traffic laws.
