

Matthew Phelan is the assistant editor for Chemical Engineering magazine www.che.com the oldest publication covering its field, founded over a century ago under the (more awesomer) title Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering. Born in Brevard County, Florida, Matthew was the first child of parents who met-cute while working for NASA's Kennedy Space Center. (Fun Fact: At age three, he witnessed the Challenger disaster from the backyard of their Merritt Island ranch house.) His comics, illustrations and nonfiction work have previously appeared in Flak, Anthem, Chemical Engineering, The Idiot and several classified government documents pertaining to research on advanced electrode and electrolyte materials for high-performance lithium ion batteries. So, yes, he supplies nerdlinger, hip-to-be-square content for Anthem on obscure British Comedy, prescription glasses and "whatnot."
