Sébastien Tellier Remixes

Sébastien Tellier's new album is called Sexuality, and boy is that the best imaginable name for the LP. The record is dripping with slinky synth ditties, over-the-top, ballad-y piano riffs, and sleazy, oh-so-sensual bass lines. It's a classic that we wouldn't be surprised to hear was recorded in the middle of the 1970s. But considering that Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo produced the full-length, the package is very much an artifact of the 21st century.

We were majorly impressed by the first single off Sexuality, "Sexual Sportswear" (woo!), and accompanying remixes, so it was with hesitation that we gave the forthcoming second a-side, "Divine," a spin. But it's good! The song would undeniably sound best in a dimly-lit bedroom with a bottle of cheap wine. Oh, and you ought to be on a satin bedspread and/or tiger-spot shag carpet when listening to the tune as well.

The remixes for the funky slow jam are fulfilling in a different way. The Danger edit is a glitchy, turbo-charged, amusement park theme song rendition of the original cut, and we're down with that. Midnight Juggernauts' interpretation is subtler, spacier, and certainly more atmospheric. The two mixes are unique, distinctly different. Changin' it up!
