Move over, Sweden―Denmark's where it's at these days! Well, maybe not quite yet, but it's looking that way, especially when great groups like The Asteroids Galaxy Tour pop up under our radar. The sextet poses as the answer to a question we've never asked but probably should've: what happens when you mix the Cardigans' cool, the Roots' live funk-rap, Love Is All's rough-around-the-edges garage, Madness' keen ska-cum-radio-friendly-pop?
Over the course of the three songs (and one remix) on the group's debut EP, Around the Bend, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour successfully hits on all of the above bands in some way and manages to cram a few more styles in there (disco... doo-wop... hell, the Bruce Aisher remix sounds like a Santogold jam for a minute there).
So yeah, we're just a little impressed. Trust us, these six are going to usurp the lauded Peter Bjorn & John mantle of Swedish Musical Domination and rock the world while they're at it.
