Muxtape is turning the Internet on its head: no one really knows what to do with the especially easy-to-use mixtape creator. Considering that lay Web users can't rip songs from any mix, and every track has an Amazon.com link tacked on below, it seems relatively harmless... and when Kim Gordon, RZA, and Albert Hammond Jr. start making them, we all know that it can only be a positive force.
New York Magazine's Vulture blog asked the above three mentioned musicians, the Jealous Girlfriends, and Pistolera to compile Summer Muxtapes for its readers, and the resultant collection of tunes is pretty fun. Summery. RZA goes heavy on the funk, soul, and, of course, old school rap; Hammond apparently likes old man jams and German hippie tunes; Gordon likes conceptual rockers and good ol' Queen alike. Add all five to your endless Summer mixtape queue!
