There no disputing that the individuals surrounding the Beautiful Losers movement have gone on to signify one of the most successful groups of artists. Never in the course of history has such a large assembly of photographers, painters, performance artists and musicians been born out of a single ideology of doing-it-yourself which was inextricably linked to skateboarding, music and yes, even surfing.
A select few of these artists have gathered to support friend and fellow artist Alex Kopps' in the making of his new surf film Displacement. This Saturday, The Luggage Store gallery in San Francisco will host an auction to help raise funds for Big Gay Al and will feature works ranging from Thomas Campbell to Barry McGee and Clare Rojas.
