"The Archive"

Text: Nik Mercer

Paul Mawhinney is well-known for his ridiculously large record collection. He owns well over two million vinyl discs, 80% of which aren't even available on anything but wax. Unfortunately, he's being forced to part with his stash due to health and financial reasons. Luckily, before divvying up the whole thing, filmmaker Sean Dunne captured The Archive and interviewed the 69-year-old.

While he tends to be a little intense when it comes to vinyl purity and record collecting, he's an amazing man, and certainly one to be admired. Check out the video above or get the high-quality version over at Vimeo.

Paul Mawhinney was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. Over the years he has amassed what has become the world's largest record collection. Due to health issues and a struggling record industry Paul is being forced to sell his collection.

This is the story of a man and his records. I hope you enjoy it.
