We all love our DJ Kicks mixes that the likes of Annie, Four Tet, and Hot Chip have put together for !K7 Records in the past, so we were obviously super stoked when the dance label announced N.Y.C.'s the Rapture would be getting out their turntables for the next one.
Alas, plans change, and the DJ Kicks idea was nixed. But in an exciting twist, the quartet decided to still put together a mix, only it'd be under the moniker, !K7 Tapes. The twenty-two-track disc is coming out in North America on November 25 (per usual, those Europeans are getting it early―October 20, to be precise)... and it's certainly not something to be missed. Over the course of an hour, the dudes drop Ghostface Killah, Thomas Bangalter, Syclops, and plenty of other bangers that get us twisting every time.
The guys already did two DJ gigs on September 26 and 27, but still have one more coming up at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City on October 10 with DJ Mehdi. Maybe that show will tide you over until the European import or U.S. version is in stores.
