The world of masked Mexican wrestlers is not an area that necessarily needed delving in to, but then again, how many of those books on your shelves and coffee tables cover stuff that's actually all that important? We know you've only scanned through 101 Fun Things To Do With Paper Clips and haven't even cracked Eskimo Fashion, so why not pick up Lucha Loco: The Free Wrestlers Of Mexico, a visually arresting collection of portraits of the flamboyant, wildly colorful, and eccentrically costumed fighters from down south?
Sure, you may know the basics of Mexican wrestling (luche libre)―bizarre, outrageously colorful masks; dangerous moves that you won't find unusual if you're a WWF fan; wacky names like Histeria―but do you fully comprehend the depth of the culture? Didn't think so. While Lucha Loco doesn't get into the politics of the sport (there's just a brief introduction before the pictures), the eye candy images do all the summing up we really need.
