Some of our readers may have already heard of London's Wild Rumpus, due to a post we put up on the duo a while back. Those of you who're out of the loop, though, here's the lowdown: Wild Rumpus is DJ Cosmo and Gary Lucas of Captain Beefheart fame. The band plays folk-rock-based jams―stuff we can imagine clapping to, perched on a porch in southern Mississippi on a humid Summer night―that're twisted and edited by Cosmo to turn up the bogey. (It should be noted here that Cosmo is a very good DJ in her own right. Her mentor of sorts was The Loft's David Mancuso, she has a great radio show, "Cosmodelica," and a party of the same name in London.)
We're really digging the latest single, "Rock the Joint" (Bitches Brew), but are totally still foot-tapping to the previous one, "Purple Somersault," too. Check out the radio edit of the former and the Prins Thomas Diskomiks of the latter in the media player to the right or just grab the MP3s below.
