Local Natives Debut Music Video for 'Airplanes'
Text: Dustin A. Beatty
I distinctly remember the day I fell in love with the music video. It was after seeing The Cars' 'Hello Again' on MTV—back when, erm, MTV actually played music videos. It was visually stunning, precocious and stared someone my parents revered—Andy Warhol.
Music videos have come a long way since then; however, these days I don't think people "French kissing" would make it past the conservatives at the FCC. From Spike Jonze's experimental Weezer video to Michel Gondry's dedication to all-things-weird, we appreciate these shorts as tiny cinematic achievements. Local Native's debut for Aeroplane is another example of the beautiful things that happens when you marry sound and vision.
