Since 1997, the Red Bull Music Academy has been every DJ's wet dream. Let's face it: the Austrian energy drink manufacturer gives 60 jockeys pretty much everything they can't afford and have always wanted (high-end studio space, the RBMA "Studio Team" of world-renowned producers, lectures led by guests ranging from engineers to rappers), and shares a whole ton of it with us, the talentless general public.
For the first time since 2001, RBMA is returning to London for 2010's series of events. The first half of the event will be held February 7 – February 19 while the second half will go February 28 – March 12, 2010 (over a solid month of awesome music!), and the board applicant judges are now taking entry forms. Budding DJ's everywhere, download the sucker now and send it off by July 27.
But hosting the once-in-a-lifetime academy isn't the only thing the company's doing. They've also got the RBMA Radio, which features mixes by a myriad of artists, and will be hosting the Detroit Electronic Music Festival from May 23 through 25. This year's lineup is pretty friggin' seminal: it features Krazy Baldhead, RJD2, Flying Lotus, Afrika Bambaataa, Busy P., and many, many more, so be sure to get tickets and all if you're in the Detroit area and a fan of any of the spinners.
