Sian Alice Group Get Troubled

Text: Nik Mercer

The Sian Alice Group impressed us with their enchanting, trancey, and psychedelic breed of experimental rock on their debut LP, 59.59 (The Social Registry), so we're obviously extremely excited about the forthcoming sophomore follow-up, Troubled, Shaken Etc.

For those of you who have listened to SAG before, you well know their eerie, almost creepy musical tendencies (this editor wet his bed upon hearing 59.59 for the first time). But if you thought the New York band couldn't get any darker, think again! Troubled, Shaken Etc. is, as its title implies, a, uh, troubled long-player. Dark, brooding, and somewhat psychedelically infused, LP2 certainly dishes out the depressing. But, hey, we all need some soothing, subdued tunes every once in a while, so, if anything, Troubled comes with a tremendous sigh of relief.

For proof of its innate merits, listen to "Close to the Ground," a track we scored for all of you that is certainly plucking our heartstrings this overcast Wednesday morning.
