The Raveonettes Twitter LP4 Promo Plans

Text: Nik Mercer

Announcing new ideas, schemes, contests, giveaway, or whatever else via Twitter is on a quick road, in our opinion, to becoming utterly passé. (Hypothetical situation: Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan announces that he'll be dropping from-the-road tour photos through his Twitter page. What is your first reaction? "Oh, cool! Now everybody's in on it, and boy are these campaigns nifty or what!?" or "Jeez! Enough already! Gnarly, bitter aftertaste there.")

Anyway, let's not get into social criticism here.

While it is a little wonky that the Raveonettes decided to spill the beans on how they're pushing the yet-to-be-titled fourth full-length via Twitter, we're incredibly enthused by the scheme describe therein. Basically, the Danish duo wants to bring us along for the recording studio ride, so every time they get a new demo on tape that's worthy of public listening, they'll shoot it out to fans that have signed up for the service. Sounds like a pretty rad idea to us!

The first such song, "Last Chance (Demo)," is a freebie, so grab it now. It's exceptionally good. Think the Raves doing an homage to the Velvet Underground's "Sunday Morning" with a little more spunk than the New Yorkers may have provided back then.
