With A Little Help From Your Friends

Text: Scott Indrisek

The line between art and commerce continues to blur at Partners & Spade as the NYC mixed-use store partners with Paper for a show/sale called "My Amazing Friends." For anyone who wants to buy us a totally extravagant gift: We've got our eye on those Star Wars puppets ($1500), but we'd gladly take a Best Made ax (around $220) if you're feeling thrifty. That Scharf bong will set you back $350, but we don't condone the use of illicit drugs (unless you want to give that as a gift, of course, in which case we might be swayed.)

"From friends like Ingo Mauer’s lamps circa 1962 to Jeremy Scott’s dollar bill scarves; from Boulettes Larder’s pink hibiscus infused sea salt to Kenny Scharf’s psychedelic ceramic bongs; and from Ruben Toledo’s customized cigar boxes to John Water’s porcelain dinner dishes – the show reflects [Paper mag editor Kim] Hastreiter’s super critical and eccentric editorial eye and signature non-linear thinking that has kept her at the epicenter of 'what’s next.' Other items in the curated “shop” come from amazing talents like Andrew Andrew, Tauba Auerbach, Karen Kimmel Mark Borthwick, Creative Growth, designers Ted Muehling, Geoffrey Beene, ThreeAsFour, Isabel Toledo, Andre Walker, Peter Buchanan-Smith, Alex Calderwood, Heath Ceramics, Krink, Anthony Lister, Andy Spade, PM Tenore (RVCA), and Tobias Wong."

'My Amazing Friends' is up through the end of July at Partners and Spade, 40 Great Jones Street, New York City
