We all know that Zach Hill of Hella and Marnie Stern's band may very well be the world's craziest drummer. The man sounds like an 80s hair metal percussionist merged with an ADHD child whose muscle mass has been enlarged to Hulk-like proportions. When this editor saw him with Hella a few years back, he successfully shattered a hi-hat that was, of course, propped up by a large cinder block (normal mounting just isn't strong enough).
Hill has teamed up with Nick Reinhart of Tera Melos for a new project they're calling Bygones. The debut album, cleverly titled By-, is dropping on August 4 through Sargent House, and we highly recommend you buy it right now. You can sort of guess what the object of vicious aural fixation will be like, but just in case, we've provided you with a sample song, the title of which alone sort of explains it all.
Oh, and did you notice whose pretty mug is on the cover? None other than Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors. Nice tie-in, fellas.
