Deptford Goth is South London’s Daniel Woolhouse, a self-proclaimed ‘doom pop’ crooner. His heady blend of gospel vocals, washes of synthetic sound and cardiographic pulses might leave you confused as to where to place the Brit along the stylistic scale. Since his arrival on the music scene, Woolhouse has churned out introspective tracks that are equally as kinetic as they are swirling with emotional detail. Spacious and soulful, yet minimalist and restrained, he blends stripped-back compositions with the accessible appeal of pop music. It’s an air-cushioned solace in a world of shit-talkers, but not without its own brand of deeply melancholic, sad-eyed sentiment.
